Dialogue Training Center

In March 2009 Allianz Global Investors AG, a subsidiary of Allianz, and Dialogue Social Enterprise established a unique training facility in Munich, the Dialogue Training Center, which is dedicated to professional human resource development. Our method is Dialogue in the Dark which has proven to be a creative and powerful tool for human resource development. The training sessions are conducted by visually impaired trainers in cooperation with sighted coaches.

During the first year many new programs and training exercises were developed, the training rooms were expanded and the facility was also opened for non-Allianz companies. In the meantime, many companies have incorporated our programs into their development portfolios and returned in regular intervals. The companies appreciate the quick learning success and added value generated by our training methods.

Statements about the Dialogue Training Center

Jay Ralph, Chairman of Allianz Asset Management AG:

A training in the dark is a very memorable way of strengthening character and addressing key qualities in just a short period of time. Besides fostering empathy and self-reflection, it is an impactful way of building trust and encouraging leadership and engagement within a team. I am impressed by the specific dynamics and the creativity which evolve as a result of this unique learning environment.

Dr. Joachim Faber, former CEO of Allianz Global Investors AG:

The experience is highly relevant to our business; it makes you humble, aware and mindful. I think our industry in general can benefit from more of these qualities.

Beat Bucher, Global Head of HR:

We established our Dialogue Training Center because it’s an innovative way of providing training for our employees and building a culture of trust. While the training sessions are not part of a CSR project, they do serve to raise employees’ awareness and understanding of working with diverse groups. The training sessions in the dark are particularly effective because participants don’t passively listen to a lecture, they have an active role in experiencing and learning.

Angelika Antz-Hieber, Head of Dialogue Training Center:

The exercises in the dark present the participants with new perspectives which directly influence their behavior and their daily working and private lives. Participants learn to combine and develop their individual capabilities. Dialogue in the Dark fosters and enhances communication skills, cooperation within the team, strategy development and leadership skills as well as authenticity, empathy and openness. Another ideal topic for workshops in the dark is diversity: participants need to be aware of the diversity within their team and their company. They need to recognize and accept different values, talents and potential as well as to benefit from synergies arising from these qualities and attitudes.
